Dance Gallery

Dance has always been a creative outlet for me and has been since I was three years old. Here are some pieces I have had the incredible opportunity to be in as well as choreograph. Check it out!

this hug started the tears.

This piece was entitled, "the illusion of composure" and was choreographed by Katelyn Penenburgh. This piece was so special to me, as I was a junior dancing with all seniors who I was extremely close with. It was the seniors final show at JMU and I was beyond grateful to have been a part of that memory for them. It was a good and heartfelt goodbye while all doing what we love.

This piece was entitled "he said, she said" and was choreographed by Abigail Fehlner. This process was so fun because of the storyline we all created based off of the main concept, which was gossip. To me, this piece felt like a game of clue and we were trying to find out 'who dun it?' We also got to dance in really cool skirts!

the drama!

this was the turning point in the piece where we started to find out "who dun it?"

This piece was entitled, "in the blink of an eye" and was choreographed by Rachel Keller (me)! This piece was created for my composition II class at James Madison University, where I had to create a 5 minute piece using dancers I casted and compositional elements learned in class. This piece touches on the fear of time passing and how inevitable it is. I had dancers write about their perspective on time and how it makes them feel. The dynamic of this piece was interesting, as I had 3 sophomores, 3 juniors, and 3 seniors. This allowed for multiple different perspectives on time, more specifically our time together and at school. This piece was such a joy to create! These 9 dancers along with this process will forever hold a special place in my heart and is one of my fondest memories from JMU.
